Summer's Advantage

Michael Summers is a trained Venetian Plaster artisan with many Central Oregon projects available for all to see. Saxons Fine Jewelers in the heart of the Old Mill District, proudly displays some of Michaels fine work in both Wall and Ceiling applications! Michael uses only the finest made authentic Italian Lime Plasters available. These products have been developed in, and imported from Italy for centuries and are considered the most natural, durable, environmentally friendly (and most importantly), most desirable wall finishes available.

Plaster has been used since early 3000 B.C. for various uses, most commonly for the interior and exterior walls of houses and buildings. Lime plasters where used in the construction of the Egyptian palaces, temples, tombs of the Pharaohs and the great pyramids. The Lime and Marble based plasters that we use today are known as Venetian plasters.

  • Resistant to water damage

Venetian plasters will draw water or moisture out of any wall or walls damaged by water. The plaster acts as a sponge, which allows the wall to breathe and allow moisture to evaporate off the surface of the plaster. The plaster also absorbs carbon dioxide actually cleaning the air.
  • Mildew and Mold Resistant

The lime in the Venetian Plaster naturally blocks the growth of mold and mildew no matter how wet or humid the environment or lack of sunlight it gets.

Some Interesting History

In the construction era of Venice Italy (800-1700A.D.) Venetian Plaster or “Veneziano” was used by some of the greatest renaissance painters as a canvas for some of the world’s most famous frescos including the Sistine chapel.

Designers Insight

Today, Venetian Plaster has amazing design and construction capabilities. It can look very old world or “Tuscan” or it can add the perfect touch to the most modern of projects.Venetian plaster can be applied in a high gloss glass-like surface or a very heavy texture “stucco” look depending on your preferance.

Maintenance

Virtually no maintenance. The pigments (colors) in the plaster permeate throughout the entire product and are not just in the surface coat like paint eliminating the need to resurface and giving you years of maintenance free applications.
